Some Thoughts About AI

If you use generative AI in the course of your work, please bear in mind the following:

  • Student names, addresses, images or other identifying information should not be put into a generative AI tool.
  • You are not guaranteed privacy or security while using an AI chatbot. Don’t say anything you would be uncomfortable sharing publicly.
  • AI tools are not, and will never be 100% accurate. Don’t use them as the only source for important information, and don’t use them to replace having another human being read over your work before you distribute it.
  • AI tools are not consistent enough to be used as an assistive technology without the direction of a Speech and Language pathologist or similar professional.
  • You are responsible for anything you create using AI and any decisions you make using AI.
